June Meeting Minutes

Call to Order

Sue Collins called meeting at 7:05 p.m.

YA Librarian’s Report

Jennifir Huston

Partnered with the Foxborough High School librarian and did an
Escape from the Library.

Tinker Tank: 10 appointments in May. Added an iron and ironing board to supplement the sewing machines.

With 9th grade ELA, Jennifir signed them up for summer reading with 45 students signing up. Introduced the newsletter,
programming and talked about volunteering.

Visited Ahern, FHS, and FCS to promote Summer Reading.

Partnering with Teenwork Partners, Inc., a non-profit established by Karen Burgfo, for a series of 5 consecutive classes of workforce
readiness in October.

SAILS The Ultimate Library Road Trip: June-August

attendees, Crafty Teens: Recycled Book Craft: 4 attendees

Bright Path Project: Teen created and led. Upper grades make welcome to 5th grade cards. 7 attendees

July & August will be quiet with programming due to little or no participation and more focused on Summer Reading which is all ready, set, to for June 22-August 15!

Together with Pride: Partnering with Ashland Public Library to provide Zoom Webinar & offer to libraries across New England. Will be hosting virtual author talk: A Journey of Discovery with Matteo Cerilli, Lin/L.T, Thompson and Josh Galarza.

Friends sponsored programs in May: Baby Sign Language with Baby Kneads – 62 attendees total over 3 sessions. Parent Child Paint Along with Julie Harrold – 16 attendees

Friends sponsored programs in June: Jenny the Juggler-SRP kickoff party Monday June 22 @ 4 pm on Town Common

Did World Cup Event: Official FIFA teddy bear and a small FIFA soccer ball – 20 attendees

Garden Club: kids started everything from seed

Amazon purchases: Gardening materials, Croc charms & silicone bracelets, mini stuffies, World Cup party supplies: FIFA ball, film and Tonie Box for SRP prize. All summer reading prizes bought.

Treasurer’s Report

Katherine Howard

• Book sale very successful brought in about $4800
• $700 memberships
• Mugs – 13 were sold.
• Zoo passes sold $1600 plus another of $180.
• Book shop $257 income
• Main expenses: Fox logo merch project, Subscriptions for TMobile
• Katherine to work with Libby to make a new proposed budget for
  November meeting.
• Treasurer is going to stop using Money minder- will use spread
  sheet with help from Bernadette starting next year.
• Auto renewal of CD this fall. Should consider moving to
• Bartholomew in the Fall.
• Inventory of 51 Mugs 13 have been sold. If we sell 7 more will
  break even.
• Founders day- gift boxes for mugs are under the mugs in the box.

Trustee Report

Adam Jenkin

• Elect new officer: Paul Chair, Sarah Clerk, Ashley Vice Chair
• Jonathan Clark is the other new trustee.
• Capital funding for new Teen program room.
• Libby assures us that finances are going well.
• Due to World Cup matches on June 16th and 26th, Boyden Library to close 1 hour early.
• Update to Library of Things policy: If item is returned dirty there will be a fine.
• New library website coming. It will be ADA compliant.
• Food donations if you have a fine you may pay it off with food.
• Our food pantry is low, please bring in donations of food and give to the circulation desk.

Membership

Colleen McManus

• Membership higher than last year.
• Great job by Katherine and Colleen signing up new members and renewing memberships at Book Sale.
• Colleen recommended we discuss alternative fundraising from Corporations for future funds as the inventory for book sales seem to be low.

Book Shop

Margi Rossetti

• Margi had a 200 book donation from the Gibbs family this week.
• We need to buy a couple of new 6 ft, tables for book sales.
• Katherine asked if we can put this request on the November Budget.
• Matt Donnelly will be in next week, he took many military history books.
• Bay State Book no longer takes the boxes after book sale.
• Brainstorm ideas to “recycle boxes”. Suggestion to put on Buy Nothing Foxboro before the book sale.
• Teddy Bear Picnic. Bring four crates of paperback books and magnets to sell.

Book Sale

Lesleyann Foster

• Thank you to everyone who volunteered for the book sale, the sorters and book sale volunteers. Lesleyann feels that the inventory was lower than in the past. Reminder to have the sorting team price the Trade books at $2.
• There were 30 Friends members doing volunteering and 20 student volunteers.
• Lee from Books for Prisons was unable to attend sale.
• Bag inventoried and need to order with new logo by the fall.
• White canvas bags need a price increase from $10 -$15
• Janice made motion to change tote price to $15 , 2nd by Charles. Motion passed.
• Lesleyann to make a slide for social media and send to KBH to advertise increased price of canvas bags.

Old Business

Mugs & Magnets – Ashley’s mugs and magnets to be sold at Founders Day. Ashley made sale signs. Bring excess mugs to Ashley’s after sale.
Founders Day June 6 – Sue, Mo, Bernadette and Betsy will be at Friends Tent for set up. Katherine and husband Gary and son, Nick will drop of
tents, tables and books for sale. They will pick up and return to library at end of day.

New Business

Teddy Bear Picnic Saturday Aug 1st 11-12 on the Common. Charles and Bernadette to help bring table and bins of books for sale to The Common. Sue, Bernadette and Betsy to volunteer.
