Call to Order
The meeting was called to order at 7:00p.m. by P. Ivanovskis.
Public Comment
None.
Bartholomew Representative – Update on Trust Funds:
M. Newcomb provided an update and portfolio review of the Town of Foxboro Library Trust Funds.
Correspondence
P. Ivanovskis read a thank you note received from Kevin Penders.
Approval of Meeting Minutes
After the Board reviewed the minutes, an amendment was noted to update the voting records on approval of April meeting minutes from 5-0-0 to 4-0-1. P. Ivanovskis made a motion to approve the May minutes as amended. A. Jenkins seconded
Vote: Motion passed 5-0-1.
Friends’ Report
B. Lorusso provided a report for the Friends. The Friends sold a large number of books at Founders Day. The Friends also received $263 in donations from the henna painting done at Founders Day, which was very successful. The Library float won the Most Beautiful award at the Founders Day parade. The May book sale raised $4800, including $700 in memberships. The Teddy Bear Picnic will be held on August 1.
Professional Staff Reports
The staff is continuing to weed the collection to make room for the teen programming room. SAILS has formed a new committee to bring back the SAILS road trip program for the whole summer. The teen volunteer program has been suspended for the summer and will regroup in the fall. The children’s department has partnered with the Health Department for their Scout Out Scout program.
Financial Reports
L. O’Neill confirmed that we have spent down almost all of the budget for the fiscal year as expected.
Director’s Report
Library Operations
Window cleaning will be done on June 20. We did not have to use the $50,000 in capital for elevator repairs, but it can be rolled over for one more fiscal year in case further repairs are needed.
Programs & Services
Pride Month programming is ongoing. A Summer Adult Bingo sheet will be offered in the summer.
Personnel Updates
MJ Hodgdon started yesterday as the Department Administrator.
New Business
Teen Programming Room:
L. O’Neill has requested a vote on possible additional funds in case the teen programming room expenditures exceed the previously approved amount of $30,000 in capital improvement funds.
Motion: J. Ooi moved to approve an additional expenditure of up to $20,000 from Beyond Books to be accessible for the construction and furnishing of the teen programming room. S. Halton seconded
Vote: Motion passed 6-0-0.
Old Business
Update on Replacing Furniture and FY27 funds:
L. O’Neill had submitted a request through Senator Feeney for $40,000 from the FY27 State Budget for the purchase of new furniture, equipment for maker space, children’s room and facilities and information technology upgrades.
October Sundays:
L. O’Neill requested that we vote to make permanent the start of Sunday hours in November rather than October.
Motion:S. Halton made a motion that we permanently change the start of Sunday hours to November. A. Clement seconded
Vote: Motion passed 6-0-0.
September Meeting
The Trustees agreed that the September meeting will be held on Tuesday, September 8.
Adjournment
Motion:A motion was made by A. Clement and seconded by P. Ivanovskis to adjourn at 8:35p.m.
Vote: All were in favor. Motion approved 6-0-0.
